Milestone

This weekend was a strange milestone. The ex’s sister had her wedding on Saturday (along with everyone else in the nation). I was a part of some of the planning for so long I was really looking forward to it. Plus, it was the last thing to happen before almost all connection with the Bekebrede family would be gone. I naturally did not go. But, my parents did. Obviously Mike was present. I was wondering what he would do if anything. Big surprise…he did nothing. So (*whew*).

That same night a neighbor boy had a graduation party. So that was a chance to dress up and look stunning to impress the natives. Of course I knocked them dead. (*wink*) In my last post I alluded to bonding with the womenfolk of the town, so I hung out with them at the party. Well, neighbor boy had an older brother who was pretty cute. So the ENTIRE night the old women were trying to hook me up with him and were giving me tips on how to pick up boys. Then some of his friends came and the women were all convinced they were checking me out. It was embarrassing but hilarious! I had such a good time. The oldest women of the troupe (i think she is in her 70’s) actually pointed to a boy and said he had a cute butt! I laughed sooooooo hard!

Yesterday was crazy. I went to school in the morning, like I do every other day, and on Tuesdays I have about a 4 hour break until my evening class. Usually, the boys and I go to lunch then hang out in the computer lab to do homework or play our favorite game Starcraft. Dave had heard about a Solar Fair convention downtown that he really wanted to go to and Tuesday was the last day it was free and open to the public. Well, I thought it might be fun to go and so did our other friend Chip. We all got into Dave’s car and made the trek from Elyria to downtown Cleveland. The car trip alone was worth the adventure. Anywho…the convention was informative and fun from a nerdy standpoint. But, of course, since it was about solar power and alternate means of energy there were hippies about. It was great! After that we hadn’t had lunch so we went to the Great Lakes Brewery. I was such a pleasant fieldtrip! The food was soooo much better than the Taco Bell that we eat for lunch almost every Tuesday and Thursday. Sadly we had to drive all the way back to Elyria for our last class, which wasn’t worth it. Oh well…

Purple Mountains, Amber Waves of Grain, and the like

Two weeks ago I had a blast with the girls. I wanted to hang with Sarah and Dione because I thought Emma was still out of town. At first I was afraid I wasn’t going to hear from either of them and I was going to have a lonely night at home. Lo and behold I got a call from Sarah and she said she would love to do something and that she, Dione, and EMMA were going out for dinner and a movie. Of course I was totally thrilled that I was going out and it was just icing on the cake that Emma was back home. I had no idea! We had a lovely dinner at “Our Place” in Ridgeville then went to see Evan Almighty. I liked it a lot! Steve Carrel is such a hoot. Then on the way back to Sarah’s we all sang “Hey There Delilah”! That was probably my favorite part of the whole evening.

The next day I went to the Scottish Highland Games in Wellington. It was sooooo much fun! I really enjoy bagpipes and there were about 3 different pipe groups going on at a time yet it all kinda blended together to form a complete song. Afterward the kids that I went with and I went to a get-together at Tony’s house. He lives out in Wellington so it was no big deal to get there. He has a beautiful house out there with a big pond out front. Of course I didn’t bring a swimsuit so I hopped into a rowboat and just made circles out in the middle of the pond. Yay!

This past Saturday I saw Ratatouille with Emma and Sarah. It was really cute and I loved the music. The greatest thing was seeing my Discrete Math teacher at the theater! He is from Romania and is sooooo awkward I never thought I would see him out on a date. Yet, there he was with a girl looking just as awkward as he. It was awesome!

Today is the fourth…HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!!! I went to a little shin-dig at the neighbors and had a good time. Without Mike I have had much more time to bond with the locals. Its been fun.

Oh yeah I meant to tell a story in my last post. It was about the flight to Kansas. Help me remember to tell you next time.
